March 10, 2008:
We have been building gardens continually between other responsibilities. Our goal is to have 1000 in Leseding. At this time we have identified critical issues with this type of growth. (Excuse the pun). Since we are now hiring workers to help with the build, the expansion is increasing. It is another matter however to teach those who have them how to take care of them. Because of this we have developed a strategy to hire local people to monitor the gardens in their area. Please pray about this. We need just the right individuals who can gently instruct while sharing the hope that they have. Please remember, we are nourishing the body, but also the souls of those we encounter.
Thank you to Quickened Ministries, a wonderful group from America who have contributed to gardens, and from what we understand have made additional committments. Please check the gallery when you have a chance to see the progress we are making. We are so blessed by groups and individuals like Quickened Ministries, and so are the hundreds of people who will eat each day because of their compassion. God bless you in all that you do as you have blessed us.
More notes later, we have a growing future!
From October 2007
1. Currently we are completing a project to build 100 tower gardens in Leseding. We are on schedule, and as The Lord blesses, we will continue to work in Leseding.
2. We are taking the concept to the people of the tribal village of Skrikfontein.
After a very interesting hike to the ruins of a tribal village near Skrikfontein, African Harvest has been requested to expand their efforts to build gardens for these people. A donation from A World Aware, Inc. and others has launched this effort. The goals here are to encourage the indigenous effort to continue until each of the 300 households have a garden. They are very excited about this, and this opens the door for other projects that we are praying about for the future.
The Process:
The towers are constructed for and on behalf of the first recipient. If they are able, they help build their garden. That recipient will then join in assisting his neighbour to construct his tower, who will then move on to assist his own neighbour. Always this is done with a song in the heart.
Sowing in the morning
Sowing seeds of kindness
Sowing in the noon time
And the dewy eve
Waiting for the harvest
And the time of reaping
We shall come rejoicing
Bring in the sheaves. |
